There's a day for secretaries, Housekeepers, Bosses, nurses, doctors and even chemists recognize moles day!
So why not an observance for Lifeguards!
I searched Google and there was no designated day or week on a national or international level, other than a few local efforts.
Join Me in a grass roots level to create a national or international observance for Lifeguards
WHY
- Lifeguarding is a profession
- Alongside Babysitting it is the job with the most responsibility with the least pay
- Lifeguards prevent negative consequences on a daily basis without recognition and get judged when something goes wrong and not when it goes right
- Lifeguarding can be an intense job that requires ongoing determination to provide a minimum level of safety
- Bring attention to water safety personnel and facilities to the public
- Assist in continuing recruitment of Water safety personnel
- Do I need anymore?
WHAT
- Media coverage
- Promotions and Activities to encourage recognition of the safety staff who provide necessary safety supervision for water recreation activities.
- Education of the public in what it takes to be a good lifeguard
- spotlight on the career opportunities
- Insert Endless ideas here
WHEN
- At the best time to recognize those that provide water safety service before the Summer or near the end of the summer when Lifeguards need the most encouragement after a busy hectic time AND when rescues are shown on tv more!
